FD2 Configuration Tool Help

Save, load, and navigation

Control	What it does
Save	Validates the current document and writes an XML configuration. The file picker starts in the FD2 data directory when that directory is available.
Load	Loads a supported FD2 XML file and replaces all rows currently shown in the editor.
Help	Opens this file in the system browser.
Language	Switches the application among English, Español, and Français. This changes displayed text only; saved configuration values remain the same.
Status area	Reports successful operations and validation or device-discovery errors.
Version	Shows the configuration-tool version.

The main tabs are POS, Dispensers, Readers, ATG, Price Signs, Carwash, and Lantronix.

Preserve a backup. The editor understands the sections and fields documented here. Unsupported or unknown XML elements are not retained when a loaded file is saved.

Default FD2 data directories:

Windows: %ProgramData%\FuelDirect2
Linux: /var/lib/FuelDirect2
macOS: /Library/Application Support/FuelDirect2

POS

Each POS row becomes a separate POS element. Add POS Row appends a row. Remove Last POS Row removes the final row.

Field	Values	Description
Comm Type	Ethernet or Serial	Selects a TCP port or a COM port. Switching to Ethernet restores the default TCP port of 9200; switching to Serial selects a COM port.
Port	1-65535 for Ethernet; COM1-COM25 for Serial	Listener/connection port used by the selected POS integration.
Protocol	PCC, PAM1000, PAM5000, WayneHyperPIB, FuelDirectSocketSerial	Selects the POS message format.
Volume DP	Integer	Digits to the right of the decimal for sale volume.
Dollar DP	Integer	Digits to the right of the decimal for sale amount.
PPU DP	Integer	Digits to the right of the decimal for price per unit.

New documents begin with one Ethernet PCC row on port 9200, with Volume DP 3, Dollar DP 2, and PPU DP 3.

Dispenser channels

Add Channel creates and selects a new channel. Remove Channel removes the selected channel. Remaining channels are renumbered in order.

Common channel settings

Field	Description
Comm Type	Ethernet shows an IP address. Serial shows a COM1-COM25 selector.
Protocol	Selects the dispenser driver. Changing it clears existing fueling positions because their protocol-specific settings may no longer be valid.
IP Address / Port	Generic defaults to 127.0.0.1; other Ethernet dispenser protocols default to 192.168.0.200. Serial defaults to COM1.
Volume DP, Dollar DP, PPU DP	Channel-wide decimal-place defaults. Each fueling position can override these values.
Drive-Away Stop (sec, 0=off)	After the normal drive-away condition remains active for this many seconds, FD2 requests a stop and blocks resume. The nozzle/handle must be lowered before the stop latch clears. Enter 0 to disable. Valid range: 0-86400.
Re-arm on No Flow	Channel-wide policy. When enabled, an authorization is retained and the dispenser is re-armed after a cycle ends without meter movement. When disabled, that authorization is consumed.

Fueling positions

Select a dispenser channel.
Use the - and + controls beside Positions to choose 1-64.
Click Add Positions.
Edit common and protocol-specific values in each position card.

Add Positions replaces the channel's current position list. Changing the position count and clicking it again recreates positions 1 through the selected count.

Position No is the dispenser address within the channel. Position decimal-place values override channel values. Protocol-specific channel values are copied into new position records where applicable.

Dispenser protocol settings

All protocols use the common communication, decimal, and drive-away fields above. The following table lists additional current fields.

Protocol	Additional fields
AMP	Per position: IP Address, Terminal Serial Number, Auth Code, and API Base URL for the AMP terminal/API connection.
Bennett CL Bennett 485	# of PPU Displays: 1 or 2. Model: 1-Handle SPD, 6000-series SPD, 1-Handle Blender (3+0), 2-Handle Blender (3+1), 3-Handle MPD, or 8000-series MPD.
Deer	# of PPU Displays: 1 or 2. DIGITPRESET: 4 or 6 preset digits.
Gilbarco	Channel Speed: Modular or Legacy; all dispensers on a channel must support the selected speed. SFC: enables Special Function Commands. Digit Mode: 5-8. PPU x10: enables PPU scaling. Hose Test: enables hose verification. Model: Standard or NEL. Channel Speed is channel-only; the other settings can be overridden per position.
Kraus Kraus4Channel	MODEL: KRAUS or MTI. Kraus4Channel selects the four-channel variant of the driver.
PMC	PRESETTYPE: Dollar or Volume.
Tatsuno	Model: Auto detect, Standard, 775, or Hydrogen. Auto detect remains read-only until two consistent status responses identify the wire format.
Tokheim	Model: 162 Mechanical, 262 including Kraus emulation, TCS Blender, TCS Variable Blender, MMD, or TCS. Gallons/Liters selects the volume unit.
Wayne	# of PPU Displays: 1 or 2. 7 Digit Auth: enables seven-digit authorization. Sale Capture Mode: Pulse Counts (calculated amounts) or BCD Money/Volume (Sales Data). MOP Buttons: enables dispenser cash/credit selection buttons. Use Dispenser DP Settings: uses decimal settings reported by the dispenser.
Develco, DW_Dart, Generic, Tokico	No additional protocol-specific fields in the current configuration tool.

Readers

Add Reader Channel creates a channel; Remove Reader Channel removes the selected channel. Channels are renumbered in order. The current reader protocol is CONEXXUS.

CONEXXUS channel settings

Field	Description
Comm Type	Ethernet or Serial.
Port	Channel port; default 9700.
Auto-complete test EMV	Testing option that automatically completes supported happy-path EMV transactions. Leave off for normal production behavior.
Manual fallback key	Enables a configurable magnetic/manual-entry fallback soft key.
Fallback key ID / text	Soft-key identifier and displayed text. Defaults: ID 4, “Manual Entry”. These appear only when Manual fallback key is enabled.
Cancel key ID / text	Cancel-key identifier and displayed text. Defaults: ID 8, “Cancel”. These appear only when Manual fallback key is enabled.

Field	Values	Description
No	1-64	Reader address within the channel.
Model	WAYNE, BENNETT, INVENCO	Physical reader/dispenser family.
Port	Default 9700	Reader-specific port.
QUICKCHIP	YES or NO	Enables or disables Quick Chip behavior.

ATG and tanks

Add ATG appends an automatic tank gauge; Remove Last ATG removes the final one. Supported protocols are VR250, VR350, and INCON.

Field	Description
ID	ATG identifier.
Protocol	VR250, VR350, or INCON.
Comm Type	Ethernet or Serial.
Ethernet fields	IP Address and TCP Port. Defaults: 192.168.0.210 and 10004.
Serial fields	COM port, Baud, Parity, Data Bits, and Stop Bits. Defaults: COM1, 9600, None, 8, 1.

Use the Tanks stepper to choose 1-64 and click Set Tanks. Tanks are numbered consecutively starting at 1.

Set Tanks applies to the last ATG in the list.

Price signs

Add Price Sign appends a channel; Remove Last Price Sign removes the final channel. Channel IDs are automatically reordered.

Generic	Supported PCC path. Serial or Ethernet; Ethernet defaults to 127.0.0.1:11001 for the Price Sign Simulator.
Novyc	EPC-S2/EPC-S4, six levels, RS-232 9600 8/N/1.
Bever	iDP, eight prices, RS-232 19200 8/E/1; command 100 refreshes every 10 seconds.
Daktronics	Five products, RS-232 9600 8/N/1; fixed PPU DP 3.
Everbrite	Five lines, RS-232 9600 8/N/1 with set/read-back verification.
Gilbarco / Passport Compatible	TS-1000/G-Site PSC, eight categories, 1200 8/N/1; fixed PPU DP 3 with read-back.
PWM	In-house revision 3, up to sixteen products, 1200 7/E/1 with DLE handshake.
Skyline	Six mapped commodities, 1200 8/N/1; fixed PPU DP 2.
Verifone Compatible	Version 1.00.11, product IDs 00-99, RS-232 9600 8/N/1 with status confirmation.
Numeritex	Legacy/unverified. Existing XML can be loaded, but saving is blocked until a supported protocol is selected.

Serial fields are Port, Baud, Parity, Data Bits, and Stop Bits. The tool automatically applies the required serial settings for non-Generic protocols. PPU DP accepts 0-5, subject to fixed protocol values above.

Carwash

The Carwash tab is currently under development. It has no editable settings and does not write a carwash section.

Lantronix discovery and IP assignment

This tab discovers Lantronix devices on a selected local IPv4 subnet and can assign a static IPv4 configuration. It does not add anything to config.xml.

Select the local Network Interface that reaches the device.
Click Discover. Responding devices show IP, MAC address, product type, and firmware code.
Select a discovered device.
Enter a valid New IP, Mask, and Gateway.
Click Assign IP, then discover again after the device applies the change.

Changing a device IP can interrupt communication and may make the device unreachable if the new address, mask, gateway, or selected network interface is wrong. Record the original settings first.

Validation and troubleshooting

Validation runs when you save. Errors appear in the status area and the file is not written.

Drive-away force-stop seconds must be an integer from 0 through 86400.
Price-sign channel IDs must be unique and from 1 through 99.
Price-sign PPU DP must be from 0 through 5 and must match protocols with fixed decimals.
Only Generic price signs support Ethernet in the current tool. Other supported price-sign protocols require Serial.
Ethernet IP addresses and TCP ports must be valid; TCP ports are 1-65535.
Price-sign serial data bits must be 5-8, stop bits 0-2, and parity None, Odd, Even, or N. Protocol-specific required settings must match.
Legacy/unverified price-sign drivers can be loaded for inspection but cannot be saved as active channels.

Common issues

Symptom	Action
Fields disappeared after changing protocol	This is expected. Protocol-specific fields and positions are cleared so incompatible settings are not carried forward.
Position or reader edits disappeared	Clicking Add Positions/Add Readers recreates the list. Set the desired count first, then make per-device edits.
No Lantronix devices found	Select the interface on the same physical subnet; check cabling, firewall/UDP restrictions, and device power.
FD2 does not use a newly saved file	Confirm the file was saved as `config.xml` in the active FD2 data directory and restart/reload FD2 as required.

Generated XML

The editor writes a Config root containing the supported sections currently shown in the tool:

one DISPENSERCHANNEL per dispenser channel, including PumpSettings and position records
one READERCHANNEL per reader channel, including ReaderSettings
one ATG per gauge, optionally including TANKS
one PRICESIGN per price-sign channel

Checkboxes are stored as XML-compatible enabled/disabled values. Some dropdown labels are stored differently in XML, so use the configuration tool instead of editing those values manually.

Saving reconstructs the XML document. Comments, formatting, unknown attributes/elements, and unsupported sections from the loaded file are not preserved.
